I spent a few annoying hours yesterday finding corporate addresses on company websites, and/or calling their customer service lines to get them, and writing letters to 10 pharmacies with various positions on pharmacist refusals. I thought I'd urge other people to do the same, and figured I'd save you the trouble of finding out all these corporations' addresses.

If you don't have the time to write and send physical letters, please, send the form letters on this page of saveroe.com. If you do have time to write a couple of letters, whether to thank the pharmacy you personally use, politely bitch them out for their bad policy, or simply urge one of the unknowns to adopt a better one, PLEASE do. Your letters count. Write your own from scratch, or adapt the letters linked to from the above page. Either one is great.

The good pharmacies! Praise them, for they guarantee your pills, including emergency contraception, will be filled for you without personal moral judgement or delay.

CVS Corporation
Corporate Headquarters
One CVS Drive
Woonsocket, RI 02895

Kmart
3100 West Big Beaver Road
Troy, MI 48084

Price Chopper - I called their phone line to get their address (800-666-7667) and got a message that the call cannot go through because I'm outside the calling area. I have no idea. But they do have a snifty email form on their website.

Costco Wholesale
PO Box 34331
Seattle, WA 98124
_______________

The bad pharmacies, who allow pharmacists to refuse to fill your RX's and offer "reasonable alternatives" which can be anything but, depending on where you live. You can read each company's policy on the SaveRoe page.

Walmart
702 Southwest 8th St
Bentonville, AR 72716

(I didn't know this, but apparently Walmart does not dispense emergency contraception at all. They suck. I knew they were evil and all, but it took this to make me stop shopping at Walmart.)

Rite Aid Corporation
Customer Support
PO Box 3165
Harrisburg, PA 17105

Winn-Dixie
5050 Edgewood Court
Jacksonville, FL 32254
_______________

And the pharmacies who really don't have known policies for pharmacist refusal:

Duane Reade
440 Ninth Avenue
New York, NY 10001

Safeway, Inc.
8060 S. Kyrene Road
Tempe, AZ 85284

Piggly Wiggly
Corporate
2605 Sagebrush Drive
Suite 200
Flower Mound, TX 75028-2739

Target
Executive Office
TFS
1A-X
PO Box 9350
Minneapolis, MN 55440

These are the companies we need to write to most of all. Urge them to adopt and publicize pro-woman, pro-family-planning pharmacist refusal policies!

I still find it difficult to get my head around the system in America, but it does make me disgusted as fuck, and very lucky to live in a country with a universal, national policy. (Which does have its flaws, though.)

I don't know that much about the system in the UK, but I know I'd take the flaws you guys experience over the crap that goes on here any day of the week. It's a testament to selfishness, greed and stupidity that the US is the last industrialized country without a policy in place for national health care.

But that would be socialism. *smacks head on wall*

Hee! at icon. Johnny!

I shall bookmark this and try to remember to write. I never really understood this issue, the Catholics are being sensible about this for the most part, it does not say good things about you when you are being more insane than Catholics. [I was raised Catholic. Church. School. CCD. Now I'm gay. Hmm.]

Most of the people I know are on birth control for hormone problems. If you die because you can't get your medicine, what the fuck does that make the pharmacist? Not a Christian by me in any definition of the word.

That's just it. These right-wing Christians are not behaving like Christians at all. I'm more Christian than they are, and I'm not.

A friend of mine takes birth control pills because otherwise her periods leave her in screaming pain. This latest thing with right wing leaders wanting to *not* vaccinate young people for HPV (because clearly that will be a license for promiscuity) is making my eyelids sizzle.

Here's a great article (http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20050530&s=pollitt) that just says it all better than I can.

I honestly don't know how much longer this can go on. It's just insane.

Yeah, I think Cananda sounds nice. I can get married there, they have the cool accents, no one will look at me funny when I say mum. I can stalk Callum Keith Rennie
