Serenity
- I was too stunned by Wash's death to cry at first. I only started crying when Simon was talking about his regret that he and Kaylee never got it on, and then she came over all determined to live. And then once I was crying over Simon being sorry he and Kaylee never hooked up, I naturally started crying about Wash being dead.
- Wash. *cries* Wash was no Miss Calendar damnit! How could you Joss?
- Gina Torres did so much with so little in the scene following. Ow.
- The Reavers were indeed v. scary. I very much liked the explanation for their freakish insanityness; the whole "they saw the blackness of space and went mad" thing never really made a lot of sense. On a related note, I liked Zoe's questioning leaving that random man, and Mal's justification for knocking him off the transport.
- Summer Glau is damn graceful.
- Jayne had some of the best lines ("Well, I might!") but Kaylee gets the prize for the monologue about her nether regions and nothing going there in over a year but battery-powered things. Mal's reaction was great, as was Jayne's addendum.
- I'm glad Kaylee finally got laid. She and Simon are adorable, even though it's hotter picturing either one of them with Jayne. (I know there have to be Kaylee/Simon/Jayne threesome fics out there.)
- Inara's kind of a badass.
- I liked Mr. Universe. His sexbot and their Jewish wedding were adorable and funny.
- I love Alan Tudyk. He was wonderful as Wash and wonderful as Lancelot and I am incredibly sad that Wash is dead. Dan said that I can rewatch the series and he'll be alive again, but I'll still know that he's dead. And Zoe wanted to have a baby with him and *cries*
- For a few moments with the Reavers I seriously thought they were all going to die. Of course, I know Joss would like to revive Firefly in whatever media, and you need survivors for a sequel. Still. V scary. Go Joss.
- I seriously did think River might be done for when the Reavers were grasping at her, dragging her away from the closing door. What she said to Simon immediately beforehand was incredibly beautiful and sweet.
- They ruined the no-sound-in-space true-to-physics thing they had going. I know this because Dan and Scott were arguing about it while the credits rolled and I sat there sobbing about Wash.
Bottom line: Totally amazing film that made me cry a lot on a day when I should have been all cried out.
